Are you looking for an opportunity to slow down, to recover from holiday madness and prepare for the season of Lent?
The Bake & Pray pre-Lent day retreat is for you.
We will gather at The Trees, St. Philip's Episcopal Church's retreat center in north Durham, for a day of rest, prayer, feasting, and of course, baking bread.
The Bake & Pray retreat is Kendall's signature retreat. Over the course of our time together, you will learn to bake a simple loaf of bread—along the way, though, you will learn how to use your time in the kitchen as an opportunity to meet with God, and you will explore the ways God is revealed to us through bread, both in Scripture and in Christian tradition.
We will gather at The Trees at 9 am for coffee, breakfast pastries, and morning prayer. We will mix up our dough, then take the time to rest with it—taking advantage of The Trees prayer labyrinths and walking trails. Finally we will shape and bake our loaves before closing with a late lunch of soup, salad, and bread.
Your registration fee includes access to the event, two meals, a signed copy of Bake & Pray, and some additional fun Edible Theology swag!
Event is appropriate for ages 12+. Please reach out to us at admin@kendallvanderslice.com if you have any questions.

Behind Edible Theology
All of our programs are developed by baker, writer, and food and theology scholar Kendall Vanderslice. They are purposefully designed with an ecumenical audience in mind, drawing on the rich history of Christian tradition in order to understand the full power of bread and the table.
